In May 2017 the ‘First Nations National Constitutional Convention’ was held at Uluru. Two hundred and fifty invited delegates met over four days, to discuss and agree on an approach to constitutional reform, to recognise Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Their resolutions were recorded in the ‘Uluru Statement from the Heart.’

With overwhelming support from its membership CARPA as an association signed up to support the Uluru Statement from the Heart. CARPA shows its support in various ways including:

  • signing onto the Uluru Voice webpage;
  • displaying on our webpage and other documentation, support for the resolutions of the Uluru statement
  • contributing to submissions and inquires that progress the aims of the Uluru Statement (such as senate joint select committee’s and other public inquires) or as signatories to petitions
